The Clifton police on Friday reported that they had found a human torso without a head, arms or legs dumped outside Fatima Masjid located in the city's Defence Housing Authority area.
SHO Faisal Khan said a team of police officials was rushed to the scene after the police were informed of the man’s torso lying outside the mosque in DHA's Gizri locality. The torso was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.
The SHO claimed that the victim’s identity was yet to be ascertained.
Gilgit students killed
Two natives of Gilgit who were in Karachi for studies were shot dead on offering resistance during a robbery bid outside a private bank’s branch in Gulzar-e-Hijri on Friday.
Officials of the Sachal police station identified the deceased as 27-year-old Abdul Salam, son of Abdul Qayyum, and 28-year-old Moin Akhtar, son of Malik Shah. Police officer Nasir Afridi added that men hailed from Gilgit and were students.
Afridi said the men had withdrawn Rs1,000 from an ATM machine when the robbers intercepted them.
The men were taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment where they died during treatment. Their bodies were later moved to a public hospital for medico-legal examination. According to eye-witnesses, Salam and Moin tried to resist and overpower the robbers when the latter opened fire on them and fled.
Mason shot dead
A 25-year-old mason was shot dead by unidentified men inside his house located in a slum of Ghazi Goth near the Ijtama Gah in Manghopir.
The victim of identified as Abid-ur-Rehman, son of Mujarab Khan. SHO Sanaullah, of the Manghopir police station, claimed the victim was a mason by profession. He was told to be a resident of Battagram but was living in Karachi with his uncle.
He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment where he died during treatment.
The SHO maintained that the cause of the killing could not be ascertained as yet since the family members claimed the victim had no political or religious affiliation nor any enmity with anyone.
An FIR was registered against unidentified men; further investigation had started.
