Burka Avenger series to be launched in Indonesia

Bringing pride to the country for creating a cartoon character that deals with social ills of the society, the multi-award winning 3D animated TV series of Pakistan Burka Avenger is heading towards the first time launch of the children’s series in Indonesia and new episodes of the series in Afghanistan.

The series is set to launch on Indonesia TV channel ANTV this April and the episodes are being specially dubbed in the local Indonesian language Bahasa for the launch. ANTV is one of the largest TV channels in the country and has successfully launched several Indian and Turkish shows. This will be the first ever Pakistani produced program to be aired by the network.

On this occasion, Pakistani star and the creator and director of the series Haroon said that they are very excited that the Burka Avenger entertaining episodes with their positive messages will resonate in other cultures and countries. “With a population of over 260 million, Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world. This is truly a new exciting adventure for Unicorn Black and myself,” he said.

Burka Avenger is Pakistan’s first ever full length animated TV series produced by Unicorn Black in Islamabad, Pakistan. The series features Jiya as the inspirational school teacher and her alter ego, the super-heroine Burka Avenger. Her use of books and pens as projectile weapons is symbolic on many levels. The Burka Avenger fights for Justice, Peace and Education for all. With its positive messages of women empowerment, gender equity and importance of education particularly for young girls, Burka Avenger has the potential to be a positive role model for children worldwide. Burka Avenger also has its own merchandise line with T-shirts, mugs, watches and other exciting products available for sale across Pakistan.

The series has received massive success not just in Pakistan but other countries as well. The series was launched by Zee Network in India and received immense praise from critics and social advocacy groups for its tackling of important social ills.

Burka Avenger also became the number one children’s TV show in Afghanistan soon after its launch on Tolo and Lemar TV. According to an independent survey, more than 85 per cent of children in rural areas of Afghanistan watch Burka Avenger with many parents praising the positive messages of the series and its positive impact on the development of children. Season 3 of the series recently launched in Afghanistan on March 22 with Season 4 to follow soon after.

Massood Sanjer, Head of Tolo TV in Afghanistan said that the highly successful Burka Avenger series has had a significant impact on the promotion of girl’s education, women empowerment and tolerance in Afghanistan. “We believe that Burka Avenger will continue to contribute to positive social changes in the future.”

Burka Avenger series initially launched in Pakistan in 2013 and instantly shot to worldwide fame. No other TV or film production in the history of Pakistan has garnered as much international attention and recognition.
