Two aliens among 12 suspects held in raids

The paramilitary force arrested 12 suspects, including criminals and drug peddlers, in raids conducted in various parts of the city on Thursday.

The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said soldiers conducted an intelligence-based raid on a drug den in the Old Golimar area, and, after facing resistance, apprehended Furqan, Nabeel Bashir, Tehseen and Mohammad Hanif. 

During the initial interrogations, it was found that the suspects were involved in purchasing and smuggling illegal weapons. 

The Rangers’ personnel seized Rs322,000, seven kilograms of heroin, 100 grams of opium, 1.6 kilograms of hashish, two kilograms of crystal Sheshah, 2,300 liquor bottles and two motorcycles.

They also found a 9mm pistol, five magazines of the 9mm pistol, a 30-bore pistol and three daggers. The suspects were later handed over to police for further legal proceedings.

The spokesman said soldiers raided other parts of the city and apprehended eight suspects.

During action in the Gulshan-e-Maymar, they arrested Mohammad Rahim with weapons. The man was alleged to be involved in robberies and other crimes.

During their raid in the Sachal area, the law enforcers busted a drug den and arrested five drug pushers, who were identified as Zubair Ali, Ghulam Haider, Imam Bux, Mohammed Ismail alias Asoo and Ghulam Abbas. Two Afghan nationals who were residing in Pakistan illegally were also taken into custody. Those arrested were handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
