A man, in judicial custody, alleged to have raped his daughter died at a public hospital on Tuesday night, police officials informed.

As per details, Muhammad Saeed, son of Ahmed Mian, was arrested by the Ittehad Town police on complaint of his wife Saira for the alleged rape of their 12-year-old daughter on May 15, 2015.

Case no 171/15 under section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) was registered against him; he was later sent to the central jail after his arrest. Saeed was still under trial for the case.

Over complaints of illness, the accused was moved to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for treatment four days ago but died during treatment, the police claim.

Eidgah police station duty officer (DO), Arab Hussain, claimed that Saeed’s family refused to collect his body from the hospital. However, his brother Habibullah later collected his body from the Edhi Mortuary.
