Livestock uplift project gets go-ahead
ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Livestock & Dairy Development Department has taken a major initiative to help animal farmers improve their productivity, an official said on Saturday.
“Under the new project, the farmers will be provided mobile animal health and veterinary services in 20 districts,” an official source told Radio Pakistan.
The state radio service also quoted the official as saying the project will cost more than Rs108 million.
“It is one of the many developmental measures the government of Balochistan is taking for the promotion of agriculture and livestock in the province,” the official observed.
Moreover, another project worth Rs61m has also been sanctioned by the provincial authorities for the establishment of a research centre for dairy development in Lasbela district.
In addition, the provincial government is also building a Camel Research Cum Camel Milk Processing Unit at a cost of Rs50 million in Washuk district.
In a recent statement, Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan said that development of agriculture and livestock sectors of Balochistan is the foremost priority of the federal government.
“All possible resources will be made available to bring Balochistan’s agriculture sector at par with other provinces,” Bosan added.
