PPP to devise strategy after Panama case verdict: Zardari
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari has said the future strategy of the party would be devised after the apex court decision in the Panama leaks case.
According to sources, he told the party members in a meeting at Zardari House here on Tuesday that the PPP had always supported the politics of reconciliation for the sake of democracy. But, he added, now it would prove its strength with the help of ballot.
Zardari also permitted the party workers to go for a tit-for-tat approach towards Pakistan Muslim League-N. He said the PPP was defeated through rigging in the last elections, but such tactics would not work now.
Meanwhile, former deputy speaker of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Ikram Shahid, called on Asif Zardari and announced joining the PPP. Former deputy speaker National Assembly Haji Mohammed Nawaz Khokhar and PPP member from KP Mohammed Khan Hoti were also present on the occasion. Zardari welcomed Ikram Shahid in the party fold.
NNI adds: PPPP President Asif Zardari also decided to form a political front against the Pakistan Muslim League-N government, saying his party would become fully active in politics once Panama leaks case verdict was pronounced.
The former president, after consultations with the party leadership, decided that formation of the political front would be given final shape after the Panamagate case verdict is announced. He said four years of politics of reconciliation had ended and aggressive politics would begin now. He said he had a lot up his sleeves to do, but would wait a little more. “I am here and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also here. The arena will be set up and the opponents will be given a befitting reply,” he said in a statement.
