Zardari, Sharjeel earned doctorate in corruption, says PML-N
Abid, Marriyum, Talal say former Sindh minister can’t escape accountability
ISLAMABAD: PML-N leaders, taking a strong exception to the ramblings of Sharjeel Memon about Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, on Sunday said Asif Ali Zardari and Sharjeel had earned doctorate in corruption.
Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, talking to the media in Faisalabad, said thieves and dacoits were the rulers in Sindh, adding that Zardari and Sharjeel received doctorate in corruption.
He alleged that billions of rupees of Sharjeel were used to be shifted abroad through boats, while a former governor belonging to the PPP was Ayyan Ali’s lawyer. Abid said Zardari was the champion of corruption, whose rate moved up from 10 per cent to 100 per cent and sold the blood of Benazir Bhutto. Zardari’s gang would be dry cleaned fully in the next elections, he remarked.
He described Imran Khan as the mastermind of ball tempering and match fixing and said Allah had given respect to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who would succeed in the future as well.
In a statement addressing Sharjeel, Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said, "Chaudhry Nisar is actually engaged in raking the filth of corruption that you indulged in during your previous stint as minister. No amount of crying and sabre-rattling can save you from the process of accountability set rolling by the interior minister and you will have to account for your corruption."
Repudiating Sharjeel's tirade against the interior minister, Marriyum said Nisar was striving to cleanse Pakistan of the scourge of terrorism in conformity with the prime minister’s vision. Before pointing a finger at him and casting aspersions at his honesty, truthfulness and character, one must look into oneself, she added.
She said those who indulged in reckless corruption were afraid of the interior minister. Marriyum asked why Sharjeel was crying hoarse to cover up his corruption instead of answering the nation about the theft and corruption done by him and returning the filched wealth.
Similarly, the ruling party MNA, Talal Chaudhry, said it had been the PPP’s practice to take refuge in politics after committing rampant corruption, adding that Sharjeel was following the footsteps of his party leaders.
