Jirga opposes Fata merger into KP

BARA: A jirga of the elders of the Darra Adamkhel opposed merger of Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and demanded to announce a referendum on the issue forthwith.
Led by Malik Fida Muhammad, the jirga was held at the hujra of Haji Sarmast Afridi in Sherakai village in Darra Adamkhel. A former MNA from Frontier Region (FR) Malik Baz Gul Afridi, Malik Noor Zaman, Malik Zar Muhammad, Malik Akbar Khan and other were present on the occasion.
They unanimously opposed the merger of Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and demanded to announce referendum on issue of the merger of Fata forthwith. The elders threatened to launch a protest movement if the decision was imposed on tribal people.
