KARACHI: The Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Ministry of Commerce will hold a “Seminar to Launch Business Guide for GSP+ in Urdu” on Thursday to inform stakeholders on the GSP-Plus status Pakistan enjoys in the European Union for another nine years, a statement said on Monday.
Among the top participants will be Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan, who will be the keynote speaker, EU ambassador to Pakistan Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, and the Special Assistant to the Prime Minster, it said.
Under the GSP-Plus status, 96 percent of Pakistani products will have duty-free market access to the EU market until December 31, 2023, according to the press release.
It noted that Pakistan is the second country in the South Asian and South-east Asian region to have duty-free access to the European Union.
Under the arrangement, it added, Pakistan has a duty advantage of 10-14 percent over its competitors in the textile and clothing sectors.
