Weekly makeshift market

A new business starts at Shadman weekly makeshift market, the only model Sunday bazaar left, after midday as the vendors occupy the pathways by paying Rs50 to 100 per stall place which goes to the pockets of the bazaar administration.
These vendors were not issued any price cards too against which market committee officials have also got their share from the cake. Supplier of benches who rent out the benches to the vendors of the weekly makeshift market supposed to be the front man in this whole activity. He charged Rs100 to 150 per bench every week from the vendors while rate of allowing the doing business on pathways on road without any bench is Rs50 to 100 per stall place.
This business is continued openly for the last many months as all the administration, including the labour department, market committee and others are well aware that no ‘surprise’ visit will come to the bazaar after 1pm as the business of these vendors starts after that time. They start occupying the pathways from the Ferozepur Road side of the bazaar and reach the Shadman side of the bazaar within half an hour. Those who sit on Shadman side of the bazaar are charged Rs100 while others Rs50 as the inflow of the buyers is higher towards the Shadman side of entrance point.
A huge number of vendors who use to come to do weekly basis in the bazaar just wait for the time of midday to enter and start the business. All those missing vegetables due to wrong price fixation matter was sold by these vendors as no price cards were issued to them.
Likewise, the last weeks, this week again number of vegetables, including bitter gourd, brinjal, cauliflower and spinach were not sold in the weekly makeshift market on account of wrong price fixation, while number of vegetables, including, green chilli, garlic, ginger, beans and green gram were sold more than the official rates.
The price of potato new was reduced by Re one per kg, fixed at Rs19 to 21 per kg. Onion rates were stable at Rs27 to 29 per kg. The price of tomato was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs68 to 70 per kg, while lower quality was sold at Rs70 per kg. Garlic China was fixed at Rs279 to 289 per kg, garlic local new at Rs88 to 90 per kg while all varieties were sold at Rs280 to 300 per kg. Ginger Chinese was fixed at Rs83 to 85 per kg, and Thai fixed at Rs63 to 65 per kg, while Thai was sold at Rs100 per kg. The price of brinjal was declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs24 to 25 per kg, not sold there.
Cucumber was increased by Rs2 per kg fixed at Rs28 to 30 per kg. Bitter gourd price was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs88 to 90 per kg, not sold there, on wrong pricing.
Spinach was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs14 to 15 per kg, not sold on wrong price fixation issue. Lemon Chinese was reduced by Rs3 per kg, fixed at Rs55 to 57 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. Zucchini Farm was increased by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs28 to 30 per kg, Zucchini long by Rs12 per kg, fixed at Rs25 to 27 per kg, and both sold at Rs30 per kg. Green chilli was increased by Rs25 per kg, stable at Rs107 to 110 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg. Capsicum was enhanced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs48 to 50 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg. Carrot local was gained by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs21 to 22 per kg.
Radish was fixed at Rs5 to 6 per kg, not sold on wrong price fixation, while outside sold at Rs20 per kg. Methi was stable at Rs15 to 16 per kg, sold at Rs30 per kg. Turnip was fixed at Rs6 to 7 per kg, sold at Rs15 per kg. Pea price was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs38 to 40 per kg. Cabbage was stable at Rs14 to 15 per kg, sold at Rs30 per kg, and cauliflower price was gained by Rs9 per kg, fixed at Rs30 to 32 per kg not available there on wrong price issue while outside sold at Rs50 per kg.
Beans were sold at Rs160 per kg against the price of Rs120 per kg, green gram at Rs240 per kg.
