Chaudhry Nisar allows repatriation of woman, daughter
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali has allowed repatriation of a woman Robina who had been languishing in jail in Indian held Kashmir along with her minor girl for the past five years.
Robina went to New Delhi along with her husband and her four-month-old daughter in 2012, says a press release. While in India, her husband betrayed her and disappeared taking along her passport, identification card and all the money thus leaving her totally helpless.
Some people helped her with some money and arranged for her to reach the border. Due to non-availability of any identity proof or travel documents, she was taken into custody by the Indian authorities and sent to jail. Her case got highlighted when an Indian court ordered her repatriation and the matter was raised by media.
The interior minister directed the Interior Ministry to get in touch with Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi, to get details of the hapless woman. Nadra and Passport Directorate could not confirm her nationality on the basis of initial details available.
The interior minister directed the High Commission to seek counselor access and to get exact details from the jailed woman. With little progress in the succeeding two months, the interior minister has decided to allow repatriation of Robina and her daughter as a special case taking into consideration difficulties that the woman and the little girl were facing.
The minister has ordered concerned authorities to make arrangements for her expeditious repatriation.
