Islamabad: Prizes were given away to the students of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College of Commerce, H-8/4, who performed well in curricular and extracurricular activities in the last academic year, during a special ceremony on Friday.
The event was organised as part of the Pakistan Day celebrations.
Capital Administration and Development Division joint Secretary Alamgir Ahmad Khan was the chief guest of the occasion, where college principal Prof. Atta Muhammad Marwat was in the chair and Federal Directorate of Education director (colleges) Zulfiqar Ali was the special guest.
Parents of the students, who had clinched top three positions in the Quaid-i-Azam University and Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education annual examinations 2016, and the principals of the respective colleges were also in attendance.
The chief guest distributed cash awards to Tahreem Fatima, Sahar Saeed and Muhammad Saqlain for securing first, second and third positions in M.Com examination of the Quaid-i-Azam University, while Abdullah Haad Raza was given cash prize for bagging third position in the B.Com annual examination conducted by the QAU.
Prizes were also given away to the students, who performed well in different QAU and FBISE sports competitions, including those of cricket, kabaddi, badminton, tug of war, hammer throw, disk throw, football, volleyball, table tennis, football and 800 meters race.
The chief guest asked the youths to have the same selfless passion, which brought about the creation of Pakistan.
He praised students for accomplishments both in the fields of education and sports.
Principal Prof. Atta Muhammad Marwat said students should work hard and serve the country selflessly for its progress and development.
He also brought up messages from the Holy Quran and Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s poetry on hard work. Prof. Ahmad Jamal gave the historical perspective of Pakistan movement and highlighted the events, which brought about the creation of Pakistan.
