KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)-Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar was arrested on Friday night in Karachi but after a few hours he was released, police and party officials confirmed, reported Geo News.
According to MQM-Pakistan Spokesman Ameenul Haq, Farooq Sattar was arrested when he was returning home after attending a wedding at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Museum lawns.
Farooq Sattar was shifted to the Chakiwara Police Station from where he was released. Karachi Police chief also confirmed the arrest and release ofpersonnel from the city division had arrested the MQM leader in a case over hate speech, sedition, and incidents of violence in Karachi on August 22 last year.
Following Farooq Sattar's arrest late Friday, a large number of police personnel reached the MQM-Pakistan central offices located in Karachi's PIB Colony.
