NOWSHERA: A resident of Khairabad area on Wednesday asked the Peshawar High Court (PHC) chief justice to help him get justice in the murder case of his daughter.

Speaking at a press conference, Hameedul Haq Siddiqi said that his daughter Suneela Bibi was married to Wajid Mehmood one and a half years ago. "The family has demanded cash and other valuables from my daughter which we could not afford," he said. He alleged that Wajid Mehmood, his mother Zaibun Nisa Bibi and sister Uzma Bibi gave her daughter poisonous pills on February 10.

He said she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Nowshera where her stomach was washed but she died. The in-laws even did not inform him about the death of his daughter, he said, adding he received the information from villagers.

"After registering the case, the Akora Khattak police shifted the body to my house," he said, adding that they took the body to the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar for medico-legal formalities where the doctor said that she had been poisoned to death.

The man said the police had arrested Wajid Mehmood while his mother and sister were bailed out. "The family is influencing the case," he lamented. Hameedul Haq asked the PHC Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to help the family get justice or else he would commit self-immolation at Shobra Chowk in Nowshera.
