MULTAN: Activists of religious parties, lawyers and civil society members on Saturday took out rallies against publication of caricatures by a French magazine.
On the call of the Punjab Bar Council, lawyers boycotted the courts proceedings to register their protest against the caricatures. The lawyers led by bar president Khalid Ashraf also took out a rally from the District Courts and joined the main rally of civil society members, which was led by MNA Malik Amir Dogar, traders’ leader Khawaja Suleman Siddiqui, Saifur Rehman Qureshi of Jamaatud Dawa, Asif Mehmood of JI, Allama Khalid Mehmood, Mufti Hidayatullah, Allama Mujahid Abbas, Ayub Mughal, Abdul Haq Mujahid, Ijaz Janjua and Tariq Naeem. The participants of the rally chanted slogans against the French magazine for publishing the caricatures. Activists of religious and political parties also took out a rally from Hussain Agahi, which concluded at Chowk Ghanta Ghar against the publication of the caricatures. Meanwhile, members of the JI demonstrated against the publication of caricatures at different places in the city.
