Sajjad, Hammad and Kamran hit tons to put Abbottabad in driving seat

KARACHI: Sajjad Ali, Hammad Ali and Kamran Ghulam blasted fine centuries to enable Abbottabad begin their three-day second round Group B game of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Grade-II in style when they amassed 444-2 in the allotted 83 overs in their first innings against Quetta here at National Stadium on Saturday.

Sajjad blasted run-a-ball 167 which carried 25 fours and two sixes in his superb knock. Hammad made 143, having smashed 14 fours. He faced 203 balls. Kamran Ghulam, young all-rounder, remained not out on 100 which came off 119 balls and had nine fours.

Hamal Wahab got 2-128.

Quetta, in response, were 25 without a loss in five overs at stumps.

Meanwhile in the other show of the same group at Niaz Stadium Hyderabad, Dera Murad Jamali were bowled out by Hyderabad for a paltry score of 141 in 50.4 overs in their first innings. Shehbaz Ali struck 42 off 55 balls, hitting three fours. Ghulam Mohammad made 23 off 60 balls, striking one four. Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali got 4-44. Babar Khan captured 3-38.

In response, Hyderabad were reeling at 99-6. They still need 43 more runs to surpass D M Jamali with just four wickets in hand.

Mir Darya Khan made 45 off 102 balls, striking six fours. Zeeshan Gul belted 23 with four fours. Aftab Ahmed got 4-43.

In Group A game at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were bundled out for 143 in their first innings against Bahawalpur. Ikram  Hussain top-scored with 33, hitting three fours. Naveed Malik made 28 with two fours and Azhar Mughal scored 20 with four fours. Imranullah Aslam captured 4-37.

In response, Bahawalpur took the lead when they reached 168-1 at stumps. Mudassir Nazir was at the crease on 87 in which he had hit five fours. With him at the other end was Adeel Basit on 63. Adeel hammered three fours from 80 balls.

In the other Group A outing at Multan Stadium, Sialkot declared their first innings at 392-8 in 76 overs against Larkana with Ayaz Tasawwar scoring 157 which had four sixes and 17 fours. He faced just 134 balls. Naeem-Uddin made 73 off 130 balls, striking six fours. Saif Badar made 45 off 50 deliveries, hammering two fours and one six. Larkana, in response, were 55-2.
