One dies after falling into well

TIMERGARA: A man died when he fell down in a well at Ramora in suburbs of Chakdarra in Lower Dir district on Thursday , the police and local sources said. They said Nasir Khan fell while looking into the well. Two other men, Mahmood and Salman, were also injured when they climbed down into the well to recover the body, which fell again due to tearing of the rope. The residents recovered the injured and the body from the well and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital in Chakdarra. Later, the body was handed over to the relatives after autopsy. Two months ago, Nasir Khan had returned from Malaysia and got married.
Man gets death for murder

KASUR: The district and sessions judge on Thursday awarded death sentence to an accused in a murder case. According to prosecution, convict M Ayub had gunned down Asghar Ali Shah over litigation in 2012 at Mohallah Syedanwala in Khudian police limits. Meanwhile, the same judge awarded death penalty to Ayub and Ghulam Rasool in another murder case. The court, however, acquitted another accused Abdullah giving him the benefit of the doubt. According to prosecution, the convicts had killed Zaheer Ahmed over a monetary dispute.
Shepherd killed, one hurt in Nushki landmine blast
NUSHKI: A shepherd was killed and another sustained injuries in a landmine blast near Qadir Abad area of Nushki district on Thursday. According to Levies sources, two shepherds were grazing their cattle in the area when they hit the planted landmine which went off. As a result, Hayatullah died on the spot while Qudratullah received wounds. The body and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where the deceased's body was handed over to the heirs after completion of legal formalities. Law enforcement agencies reached the site and cordoned off the entire area.
Three robbers arrested in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The police on Thursday arrested three robbers and recovered stolen items and arms from them, an official said. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nazir Khan told the reporters that the police high-ups had taken strong exception to increasing incidents of robberies in the district and had formed a special team to arrest the accused involved in robberies. He said that the police investigated the robberies cases on scientific lines and traced and arrested three members of a robber gang. The arrested robbers identified as Miraj, Wasim and Ajmal. He said that the police recovered robbed items and arms from the possession of the accused. The weapons included a Kalashnikov and a pistol, he added. He also announced cash award and commending certificates for the cops for solving the case in a short period of time.
Four held with liquor

SIALKOT: Police have arrested four people and recovered 19 litre liquor from them. Rangpura police arrested Yaqoob with six liquor bottles while Sadr police arrested Amanat and Saleem with 8 litre liquor and Cantonment police arrested Asif with 5 litre liquor.

RAWALPINDI: Indian troops Thursday resorted to unprovoked firing in Tander and Khoiratta sectors along the Line of Control (LoC). According to Inter Services Public Relations, Pakistan Army troops effectively responded to Indian firing.

Couple gets life term for murder

TIMERGARA: A local court on Thursday awarded life-term to a couple on murder charges. Asad Ali Khan, Additional and Sessions judge Chakdarra at Timergara camp court, sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment. Amina Bibi and Ghulam Sardar axed to death one Rahim Zada, husband of Amina at the nearby hills on August 25, 2015. The court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of killing Rahim Zada. The accused were sent to District Jail, Timergara, amid tight security.
TIMERGARA: The Provincial Doctors Association on Thursday set a 30-day deadline for the provincial government to announce service structure for doctors. PDA President Dr Amir Taj made the demand at the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected office-bearers of the association here.
PHOOLNAGAR: Dacoits injured a trader on resistance during a robbery on Multan Road at Dina Nath on Thursday. A trader, Amir, of Lahore was travelling in a rickshaw when the dacoits intercepted him and robbed him of Rs 200,000. The dacoits also shot at and injured him on offering resistance to them. The injured trader was shifted to the rural health centre but the doctors referred him to the Lahore Jinnah Hospital due to his critical condition.
