Army face WAPDA in KP CM volleyball final today

KARACHI: Army and WAPDA qualified for the final of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Under-23 Volleyball Championship, beating KP and POF, respectively, in the semi-finals on Thursday.

At the PSB Coaching Centre, Qayyum Sports Complex, Peshawar, Army upstaged spirited KP 3-2.

WAPDA defeated Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in straight sets.

Army, who have been undefeated in the league round, faced tough resistance from KP in the first semi-final, which continued for two and a half hours.

KP took the first set 23-25 which was tied at 6-6, 7-7, 9-9, 10-10, 15-15, 18-18, 19-19, 20-20, 21-21, 22-22 and 23-23.

But Army came back with a bang, winning the next two sets 25-21 and 25-23.

KP levelled the score 2-2, winning the fourth set 26-24.

Army won the fifth set 15-9 to clinch the game.

In the second semi-final, WAPDA defeated POF Wah 3-0 with the set scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-21. Earlier, in the last pool match, Army defeated POF Wah 3-0 with the set scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.

POF Wah beat Punjab 3-0 with the set scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-17.  WAPDA edged out Pakistan Education Board 3-0 with the set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.

KP defeated FATA 3-0, Punjab beat Azad Jammu and Kashmir 3-0 and WAPDA whacked Balochistan 3-0. The final will be held on Friday (today).
