Fahim Gul appointed coach for six months
KARACHI: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) held its 44th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday in Islamabad despite a stay order against it given by Civil Judge-III, Quetta.
The house elected new Vice President Shahid Alvi, who was then made Senior Vice President to replace Razi Nawab.
Shahid was serving as Director General Air Intelligence and was offered this position a year ago but he declined due to his professional engagements.
Moreover, a new secretary general has also been appointed who will take charge in a few days. “Fahim Gul has been appointed as the national coach for six months since he is the only quality coach available in Pakistan,” said PSF secretary Amir Nawaz.
He added that the Executive Committee of the federation decided to look for a permanent coach for long-term planning to boost squash in Pakistan.
When asked about the ban on Pakistan by Professional Squash Association (PSA), PSF secretary said that they would meet the consultant firm of PSA (Security Risk) on March 6 as President PSF had given directives for all-out efforts to convince the PSA’s consultant firm that Pakistan is safe for international events.
“The president also wants players to be sent abroad for international exposure,” said Amir.
He added that PSF president has ordered to hold invitational international events to show the world that Pakistan is a safe country. When asked about litigation that PSF has been involved in with provincial squash bodies, he said they would face all such cases. “Punjab squash is dragging us in their conflict but we have made it clear that PSF has no involvement in the matters of provincial squash bodies. However, we will fight all the cases Sher Ali Kakar has filed against us,” said Amir.
