PESHAWAR: Speakers at a workshop on Thursday urged the people to plant trees and grow flowers to control the environmental pollution and effects of climate change at the global level.
The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Astognah Creators jointly organised the workshop on the “Best Gardens & Gardening” at Nishtar Hall.The initiative was aimed at raising awareness about ever-rising pollution in the world, highlighting importance of plants as purifiers for environment and promoting those having excellence in gardening and good horticultural practices.
Secretary for Sports and Tourism Department Muhammad Tariq was the chief guest. Besides Professor Hafiz Inayatullah of Agriculture University, Peshawar, and chief executive officer of Astognah Creators Shahana Mehmood, a large number of universities’ students and horticulturalists attended the workshop.
Secretary Tourism Muhammad Tariq, Professor Hafiz Inayatullah, Shahana Mehmood and others spoke on the occasion.The speakers shed light on the importance of trees, flowers and greenery and urged the participants to develop gardens at their homes, hujras’ lawns and plant more and more saplings in the current spring season.
They said plantation of trees and growing of flowers were the only viable solution to the ever-degrading environment and urged the people to play their vital role in making the atmosphere clean.The organizers later announced to hold a competition on the best gardens and gardening.
