ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has apprised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of the compliance updates of over 7,000 companies, a statement said on Friday.
On January 5, the FBR had sent a list of 9,721 companies to the SECP to verify their filing status with the commission for 2014.
These companies didn’t electronically file their income tax returns till the list was sent. However, they had filed tax returns for 2013, the statement said.
The SECP has examined the status of 7,444 companies through its online database.
According to the SECP, a total of 4,641 companies are compliant and 2,803 non-compliant.
The status of the remaining 2,277 companies is being checked manually as these entities might not have filed their returns by using the online facility or might not be registered with the SECP, the statement said.
