Charsadda attack KP lawyers to observe strike today
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has announced to observe strike across the province today against the suicide attacks on tehsil courts in Tangi tehsil of Charsadda district.
"The KP Bar Council announced a full day strike in the province for today.The lawyers will also observe two- day mourning against the attack on Tangitehsil courts and loss of precious lives," said Shah Faisal Utmankhel, member of KP Bar Council.
The KP Bar Council, he said, praised the police for foiling the terrorists bid to enter the court. PHCBA President Muzammil Khan and General Secretary Yousaf Ali also condemned the attack on the courts.
Meanwhile, PHC Chief Justice Yahya Afridi hailedthe judicial officers of tehsil Tangifor facing the difficult situation with strong nerves at the time of terrorists attack. In an official statement, the chief justice also appreciated the timely action of the local police for thwarting the attack by not allowing the terrorists to enter the courts premises.
The chief justice and judges of the high court thanked the security agencies for their rapid action and hope that in future, too, the nefarious designs of the terrorists would be foiled with such bravery.
The chief justice expressed grief over the casualties in the incident and prayed for early recovery of the injured people. The judiciary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has come under attack in the past as well.
On February 14, the suicide bomber targetted a vehicle carrying judges from Peshawar Judicial Complex to their residences at Hayatabad in a driver was killed and four judges including three female judges injured.
On September 2, 2016, at least 14 people were killed and 52 injured in a suicide attack at the district courts in Mardan. Six lawyers and two policemen were among the dead. On March 17, 2013 terrorists attacked the Judicial Complex in Peshawar in which four people were killed and 29 others injured.
