A four-year-old boy was rescued from his kidnappers and two of his relatives detained for his abduction, said the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Thursday.
AVCC SSP Muqaddas Haider and CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy said Noor Kabir was kidnapped from Muhammadi Colony in Keamari on January 4, and his abductors had demanded that his parents pay Rs500,000 for his release.
They said the family filed a complaint at the Docks police station, and on January 14 the case was formally handed over to the AVCC for investigation.
SSP Haider said the AVCC and the CPLC used technical and ground surveillance for tracing the whereabouts of the kidnappers.
They jointly raided the hideout of the abductors in Malir’s Model Colony and rescued the boy as well as detained a man and a woman. The SSP said the kidnappers were related to the minor.
The officer said initial investigations had revealed that some relatives of the minor were behind the abduction, adding that further investigation was under way to trace the whereabouts of other culprits.
