Karachi: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to control grey trafficking unearthed illegal gateway exchanges in Gujrat and Karachi, a statement said on Wednesday.
Two successful raids against the grey operators were carried out along with the FIA team in the areas of Gujrat and Karachi. The first raid was carried out at Jalalpur Jattan.
An illegal exchange, comprising one laptop and switches were confiscated. Two people were arrested and were in the FIA custody for further investigation, it said.
The second raid was conducted at a residential house at Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Phase 2, Karachi in which illegal exchanges, comprising 2x16 Port gateways, two modems, one laptop, one desktop and one LAN switch were confiscated.
One person was arrested and was in the FIA custody for further investigation, it said.
The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by the PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic, thus, curtailing the loss to the national exchequer.
