LDA halts plaza construction

Staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority halted construction work on a commercial plaza, Regent Mall, which was being illegally built on a 22 kanal piece of land at Shahpur on Multan Road.

Officials said the land was reserved for industrial purpose according to the master plan.

Building plan for construction of an industrial unit on the plot got approved from LDA but a commercial plaza was being erected at the site in violation of the building plan sanctioned by LDA. Officials maintained that the  Lahore Development Authority had cancelled the building plan for the  land after fulfilling all legal formalities.

Meanwhile, the LDA director general had directed the all the six record sifting teams to assist the director of Commercialisation for 10 days to sift the record pertaining to Commercialisation and Recovery Directorates.

The LDA chief town planner has deputed Ms Tayyaba Nazir and Sidra Parveen, assistant directors, Commercialisation, to transfer the record of all approved cases of permanent commercialisation from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016 to the sifting cell.
