LAHORE: Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa of the Lahore High Court on Monday referred a petition to Chief Justice through which director administration of Idara Minhajul Quran sought direction for the Punjab government to public judicial inquiry report of Model Town incident.
During the course of hearing, the judge was told that a similar matter had already been pending before a full bench. At this, Justice Bajwa sent the file to the chief justice for fixation of the case before the full bench.
The petitioner had stated that the government was not in a mood to release the inquiry report despite more than six months had been passed to the incident. He pointed out that at least 14 persons were killed and over 100 injured but the government wanted to protect the guilty authorities. He asked the court to order the provincial government to make the inquiry report public. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi of the LHC had held the judicial inquiry.
