Sindh Madrassatul Islam University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh laid the foundation stone of a model school and technical training centre at the SMIU Malir Campus on Monday.
Addressing the ceremony, he said that SMI University is the first educational institution to have started construction work at its Malir Campus in the Education city, which will be completed by the year 2025. He added that classes in the school would hopefully commence from April 01, this year.
“The objective of this project is to spread the literacy and provide quality education to the children of less-developed areas like Malir.”
Dr Shaikh said that the SMI university Malir Campus is spread over area of 100 acres, while construction work of the model school and the technical center was being completed with the special grant provided by Sindh chief minister on the directives of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
The VC said that furniture has been purchased while generator is being arranged, and transport facility will be provided to students.
He said that teaching staff has been recruited purely on merit and the enrolled students will be provided free uniform and books.
Dr Shaikh informed the gathering that a scheme has been sent to the Planning and Development Department for establishment of 200 to 250 bed hospital which will later be upgraded up to the of medical college.
