The military has ruled Pakistan for nearly half of its existence. So it was a feat when for the first time a democratically elected government completed its constitutional term in 2013. But the constant fear of a military coup has not receded yet. The fault for military interventions lies with our civilian leadership. Had our democratic governments delivered on their promises there would have been no coups.
Now the establishment of military courts has once again showed us that our judiciary has failed to perform its duties. Why else do we need military courts? Instead of blaming the military we should ask the civilian government to improve its performance.
