Growers stage demo against sugar mill admin

NANKANA SAHIB: Hundreds of farmers staged a demonstration against the administration of a local sugar mill for not clearing their outstanding dues near Bucheki on Saturday.
They also blocked Bucheki Road, suspending traffic for some time. The protesters, including Haji Khalil Bhatti, Mian Asif, Zafar Iqbal, Alam Sher and Rai Sikandar Zaman, told The News that the mill administration had promised to pay the dues when they obtained their crops. They said that the mill administration had blocked Rs 400 million and using delaying tactics in this regard. They said that the mill administration had given them cheques, which were no being cleared by the banks.
