GUJRANWALA: The police have arrested a female teacher on the charge of kidnapping four-year-old Zainab who was later found dead from fields.
Addressing a press conference at Police Lines here on Saturday, CPO Waqas Nazir said that Ayesha, a teacher, had called Zainab to her house on the pretext of filling up a form for admission to school. He said that Ayesha’s paramour Yasir who was already hiding in the house made Zainab unconscious through chloroform and shifted her to another place. He said that the kidnappers had demanded Rs three million for her release, but later struck the deal for Rs 300,000. He said that the victim’s father paid the amount to the kidnappers, but the girl had already died due to excessive chloroform.
The CPO said that raids were being conducted to arrest the teacher’s accomplice. He said that they had collected evidence and exemplary punishment would be awarded to the culprits. He said that the deceased’s father had not informed the police and arranged the ransom amount. “The child would have not been murdered had her father informed the police immediately.” He said that the teacher had confessed to the crime.
Ansar Nadeem, victim’s father, said that the kidnapper had asked him to place the ransom amount near an electric pole in front of City Public School near Ratta Jhal. “After placing the amount, I went to the designated place to receive the girl, but found her motionless. I took her to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead,” he said, while sobbing. Meanwhile, the CPO has constituted a team, including Satellite Town DSP Javed Iqbal, People’s Colony SHO M Afzal and ASI Khalil, to trace the killer. He also awarded commendation certificates to the police team.
