Karachi Kings thump Karachi Gymkhana in veterans cricket
KARACHI: Karachi Kings Super Veterans defeated Karachi Gymkhana Super Veterans by 63 runs in the Super Veterans Twenty20 cricket match, organised by Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) here at the Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday.
Karachi Kings Super Veterans scored 175 for the loss of only two wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
The foundation was laid by the 73-run opening partnership between skipper Arif Habib, who was run out for 25, and Philips Dias, who scored 42 runs off 35 balls with the help of three boundaries.
The momentum was sustained by the pair of Mahmood Rasheed, who scored unbeaten 54 off 32 balls. Col (Rtd) Billah returned undefeated on 37 off 23 balls, hitting three fours.
Karachi Gymkhana Super Veterans failed to keep pace with the asking rate and were restricted to 112 for three.
Dr Anjum Fazal was retired hurt after scoring 42 runs off 55 balls. Dr Mumtaz Khan and Saleem Parekh scored 22 and 14, respectively.
Moinuddin, Col (Rtd) Billah and Jamil Karimi were the successful bowlers for Karachi Kings Super Veterans.
Col (Rtd) Billah received Man of the Match award. Mahmood Rasheed (Best Batsman), Jamil Karimi (Best Bowler) and Saleem Parekh (Best Fielder) got the other prizes.
