PESHAWAR: The workers of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Tuesday staged protest near the Grand Trunk Road to express solidarity with the Muslims being killed and bombed in Syria, Myanmar and other countries of the world.
JI provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, former MNA Sabir Hussain Awan, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, Atiqur Rahman, former provincial minister Hafiz Hashmat and others led the demonstration.
Carrying banners, the protesters were chanting slogans against those bombing public places, houses, hospitals and schools.Addressing the rally, Mushtaq Ahmad lashed out at the governments in Syria and Myanmar. He added that the family of Basharul Asad had been involved in killing and torturing of innocent people for the last five decades.
He asked the United Nations, world powers and Muslim countries to take note of the genocide in Syria. He also asked the world bodies to take action against the government in Myanmar where innocent Muslims were being killed. The JI announced staging rallies all over the province on December 23 to protest the brutalities in Syria and Myanmar.
