Zardari will return on December 23: Bilawal
KARACHI: The Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has announced that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari would reach Karachi on Dec 23, 2016.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he said that doctors had allowed Zardari to return to the country.
He criticised the government for not accepting the four points put forth by his party. He said democracy could not flourish in the country until the Panama Inquiry Bill was passed.
He said the prime minister had been exposed in the PanamaLeaks, and the PPP wanted democratic accountability in the country. He claimed that the PPP was the real opposition against the incumbent government.
Bilawal claimed that Dr Asim Hussain was being victimised politically. He said the return of Asif Ali Zardari would facilitate implementation of the four points of the PPP and their demands will be met soon.
He said he would have offered himself for accountability had his name been in the leaked documents of Mossack Fonseca. Bilawal said the PPP did not want to indulge in the ‘drama’ revolving around the Qatari prince and his letter. “PPP is the name of an ideology and we will fulfill it,” he said when asked if Zardari will receive a warm welcome on his return.
Earlier, responding to Chaudhry Nisar through his twitter account, Bilawal said those who call him a child should know that he is a child but Benazir Bhutto’s child, so they (PML-N) should be scared. He also raised ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogan in his tweet.
Earlier, on Sunday Bilawal also tweeted a picture of his parents’ wedding with the caption, “My parents should be celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary. Terrorists and their facilitators robbed us of this but we won’t back down.”
Meanwhile, a group of 65 orphaned children from Mansehra met Bilawal at his residence on Sunday. The children are on a week-long visit to Karachi to meet different personalities and learn from them. Bilawal discussed with the children their education and also distributed gifts among them.
