Five Pakistan players in British Junior Open
KARACHI: Only five Pakistan players are participating in British Junior Open, which is scheduled in Sheffield from January 2-6 next year.
Abdul Qadir has entered his name in under-19 category where he is in qualification round.
Abbas Zeb is in under-17 category and Ali Sher is in qualification round of under-15 category.
Ashrab Irfan is in under-13 category and Arslan Khawar is in qualification round.
There will be 412 players from 33 nations in the event.
“Our players prefer playing in the US Junior as around 12 players are competing there. So low participation in British Junior Open was expected,” said Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Amir Nawaz.
Egypt, who clinched six out of the eight titles in 2016, come well armed once again, claiming five out of the eight top seeded positions for the 2017 competition.
