SUKKUR: The Rangers on Friday foiled an attempt to bomb an Imambargah in Hyderabad and killed a suicide bomber.

According to police and other sources, the Rangers conducted a raid in the Amani Shah Colony. The suspect, who had been wearing an explosive-laden vest, opened fire on the Rangers.

The Rangers returned the fire in which the suicide bomber was killed on the spot. Later, the bomb disposal squad was summoned to defuse the explosive-laden vest.

The SSP of Hyderabad, Irfan Baloch, said that Rangers personnel were patrolling on motorcycles near the Amani Shah graveyard, which is near the Bagh-e-Ali Imambargah, when they spotted two suspects moving towards the Imambargah.

The Rangers personnel ordered the suspects to stop, but instead of complying with the orders of the Rangers, they threw a hand grenade at the Rangers personnel who bravely chased them and not only foiled the attempt of suicide bombing, but they also shot dead one of the two suicide bombers.

The other bomber escaped.  SSP Irfan Baloch said that the law-enforcement agencies had launched an operation in different parts of Hyderabad to arrest the other suicide bomber.
