MQM-P organises candlelight vigil for APS, Qasbah Aligarh victims

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan criticised the federal and provincial governments for failing to implement the National Action Plan effectively.

“The government should change its biased approach and focus on reforming madrasas,” Dr Farooq Sattar, the convener of the party, said at a candlelight vigil organised by the MQM-P to remember the victims of the Army Public School Peshawar attack on the occasion of the second anniversary of the horrendous event and also remember the people who died in the Qasbah Aligarh massacre.

“Instead of taking action against extremism and terrorism, the government has adopted a discriminatory policy towards our party,” he told reporters.

Sattar said the date of December 16 marked three unforgettable tragic incidents for the country, the Fall of Dhaka, the Qasbah Aligarh massacre and the APS attack.

“These are events that can never be forgotten the authorities need to ensure that such incidents don’t occur again,” he added.

Sattar said the urban population of Sindh was being kept deprived of its basic needs despite being a major contributor to the country’s revenue.

“The quota system should be abolished immediately and citizens of Karachi, which generates 75 percent of the country’s revenue, should be given their due rights,” he added.

The MQM-P leader said the main aim of his party was a flourishing and stable Pakistan.

“We are being pushed to the wall and it is the need of the hour that our issues should be addressed and our mandate is also accepted.”

Formalise future policy

Sattar said the MQM-P would formalise its future policy at its big gathering on December 25.
