LAHORE
A 26-year-old man was shot dead by two bike riders in the area of Haier police on Thursday.
Victim Afzal was passing through Bedian Road when two armed bike riders intercepted him and shot him dead.
Police said that it was yet to be established whether the victim was killed by robbers or an old enmity claimed his life. Police have shifted the body to morgue.
found dead:A 60-year-old man was found dead in the area of Shahdara police on Thursday.
Police said the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of an overdose of drugs. Police have removed the body to morgue.
DIG: A 14-member delegation of under-training officers of Civil Services Academy called on the DIG Operations, Lahore, on Thursday.

Qaisar Ali joined police force in 1984 and was promoted to the rank of DSP in 2008.
He served as SP Legal, Police Training School, Farooqabad, SP Legal of DG Khan, SP CIA, Gujranwala, SP Investigation, Toba Tek Singh and as AIG Legal, Human Rights Cell in Central Police Office during his service. He got retired while serving as AIG Legal, Punjab, where he was appointed in 2014.
Bootlegger: Officials of Mujahid Squad claimed to have arrested a bootlegger at New Ravi Bridge police picket and recovered 100 bottles of liquor from his possession.
The arrested accused was identified as Suleman Khohkar.
accidents: Total 609 road crashes were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Nine people were killed and 494 badly injured in the accidents. The injured were shifted to hospitals.
However, some 180 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were provided first aid by the emergency medical teams.
Xmas function: A function to cut a Christmas cake was held at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
Christian employees of the institution along with their families attended the function.
According to a press release, LCWU Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi along with senior management cut the cake and distributed gift hampers among the children of Christian staff.Registrar Uzma Batool,Treasurer Abdul Ghaffar Ali, SEO Sheikh Gias, members of faculty and staff joined to say Happy Christmas to the Christian community of the institution.
The VC said the university had set up a welfare fund with Rs 1 million for its employees. The Christian community is an important fraction of society. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them in happy moment of Christmas, she added.
awareness: A speech and art competition under Albayrak School Awareness Plan was held at City District Government Girls High School, Shadman, on Thursday.
Officials said the event was aimed to create awareness among the students to keep their surroundings clean and waste-free.
The topic for the speech was “Har Jagah Ham Samjhen Apna Ghar.”
The students highlighted the importance of cleanliness through messages and drawings on charts in the art competition, officials said, adding that waste bins and awareness message boards were also installed in the school.
An awareness camp was set up by Albayrak communications team and awareness literature was distributed among the students.
Albayrak Senior Manager Operations Huseyin Kartal led the campaign. Prize distribution ceremony was held at the end of the activity. The school administration lauded the efforts being made by Albayrak.
charging points: Minister for Railway Khawaja Saad Rafiq has issued orders to the authorities concerned to provide facility of mobile charging in trains.
Around 10 points for mobile charging would be set up in every coach of economy class.
After the instruction by the minister, mobile charging points have been set up in 57 reconditioned coaches. Moreover, Pakistan Railways will repaire 260 trains till June 2017.
