ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to issue tax exemption certificates through online instead of on paper. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting presided over by FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa on Wednesday.
The meeting considered the issuance of exemption certificates and later it was decided that all the tax exemption certificates would be issued online instead of manual (through paper) in future. The aim of taking this move was to save national exchequer from millions of rupees loss which was being incurred through issuance of bogus tax exemption certificates.
The meeting was attended by Senior Member of FBR (Tax Policy) Shahid Hussain Assad, Member Operation Muhammad Ashraf Khan, Member IT Mrs Rana Ahmad and others. It was also decided to put tax exemption certificates on website of the FBR. The copy of these certificates would be available at WEBOC system of the Customs Department at the time of import in case of exemption.
