NAWABSHAH: A one-day-old infant was kidnapped on Wednesday from the Gynae Ward of the People’s Medical Hospital (PMH) and relatives staged a protest for the infant’s recovery.
According to reports, Sardaran, wife of Rahmnatullah, resident of Moro, was admitted to the hospital and had given birth to the baby boy after a Caesarean operation on Tuesday.
Sardaran told the media persons that a woman, who had come to her early on Wednesday morning and told her that she works at the hospital, took away the newborn saying it was to be weighed and vaccinated. Sardaran said she went after the woman but she disappeared after mingling in the crowd of patients.
Later, her relatives staged a protest in front of the Gynae Ward and demanded the infant’s recovery. Medical Superintendent PMH Dr Hashim Langah said it was the first such incident.
The MS said he had formed a committee for a probe into the incident. He said the infant would be recovered at all costs. He said it would also be investigated as to how the mother had handed over the baby to an unknown woman.
