KARACHI: Unseeded Raza Sawani pulled off a sensational upset by defeating second seed Hasnain Manzoor in Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Tennis under-18 singles quarter-finals at PTF Complex in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Raza proved too good for match favourite Hasnain Manzoor and recorded a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Mohammad Muzammil also cruised into the semi-finals by beating Aman Atiq 6-1, 7-6 (4).
Haris Irfanul Haq also pulled off a straight-set triumph against Shahroze Rohail, recording a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Talha Bin Asif dropped a set before beating Abdal Haider 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
In men’s quarter-finals, favourite Muhammad Abid dropped a set before beating Imran Shaukat 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 score.
Abid Ali advanced into the semi-finals of men’s singles event, defeating Haseeb Yaqoob 6-1, 6-1.
Shahzad Khan overpowered Ahmed Chaudhry 6-3, 6-3. Second seed Yasir Khan dispatched youngster Mohammad Muzammil, recording a 7-6 (5), 6-0 win.
