KARACHI: NBP and WAPDA won their quarter-final matches with contrasting results in the National Hockey championship at Sialkot Hockey Stadium in Sialkot on Wednesday.
Navy took the lead against NBP in the first quarter-final match with Akbar Ali converting a penalty corner in the third minute of the match.
However, NBP bounced back in the match with Mohammad Tousiq and Kashif Shah scoring one each to lead their team to a 2-1 triumph.
In the second quarter-final, WAPDA thrashed HEC 7-1. Aleem Bilal fired four goals. Mohammad Imran scored twice and Tasawwar Abbas one. Ashar Ali scored a consolation goal for HEC.
On Thursday (today), PIA will meet SSGC and Army will take on Punjab in the remaining quarter-finals.
