Stranded passengers allowed to travel via Lowari Tunnel in Chitral
MINGORA/CHITRAL: A large number of tourists have arrived in Kalam in Swat after the valley received the first snowfall of winter.
The snowfall has covered the mountains and the trees, which is giving a beautiful look and has added to the beauty of the scenic valley.
The snowfall also increased the intensity of the cold and the people have started wearing woollen shawls and other warm clothes to fight the cold.
Kalam, Osho, Mataltan, Atror Gabral and other adjoining areas have received one foot snowfall.
The Met Office said that Kalam may receive more snowfall and rain in the next two to three days.
Meanwhile, over 150 vehicles, which were stranded on both sides of the Lowari Tunnel after the closure of the pass due to snowfall, were allowed to travel through the tunnel.
General Officer Commanding, Malakand Division, Major General Asif Ghaffoor directed the officials in the area to facilitate the stranded passengers. The stranded passengers were also offered tea and heating facilities on both the sides, said an official.
