Seven major generals promoted
RAWALPINDI: With the promotion of seven major generals as three-star generals, the Pakistan Army on Friday also appointed new commanders of 10 Corps Rawalpindi and 2 Corps Multan, the ISPR said.
The newly-promoted Lt General Nadeem Raza, top on the list of promoted officers who previously was the Commandant Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul, has been appointed as new Commander of 10 Corps Rawalpindi.
Lt General Nadeem, who belongs to infantry, would replace Lt General Malik Zafar Iqbal, who is now posted as DG Joint Staff Headquarters.Lt General Sarfraz Sattar has been given the charge of has been given the charge of 5 Corps, Multan. He hails from the armoured corps and was already promoted and waiting for posting.
The two superseded lieutenant generals, Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad and Javed Iqbal Ramday, have opted for premature retirement. They were heading the Multan and Bahawalpur Corps respectively and were due to retire in August next year.
The promoted two-star generals also include Major General Bilal Akbar, presently DG Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, who led the operation against terrorists and criminals in Karachi. Other promoted officers include Major General Humayun Aziz, presently DG Welfare and Rehabilitation, at the GHQ, Major General Naeem Ashraf, presently posted as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University (NDU), Major General Muhammad Afzal, who hails from the Engineering Corps, currently acting as DG Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), IGFC Balochistan Major General Sher Afgun, and Major General Qazi Muhammad Ikram Ahmad, currently DG Personnel Services at the GHQ.
Following the fresh promotions, some more major reshuffle including postings and transfers is also likely against various posts in the next few days. With the promotion of Major General Bilal Akbar, the Pakistan Rangers Sindh would also get a new DG.
