Mayor asks Fazl to raise voice for Karachi in NA

Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has asked the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief to raise his voice for the rights of Karachi in the National Assembly. 

While visiting the JUI-F office on Thursday, the mayor hoped that Maulana Fazlur Rehman would ask the prime minister to give Karachi its due rights. 

JUI-F leaders Qari Usman, Maulana Abdul Kareem, Maulana Ghayas, Mufti Abdul Haq Usmani and others welcomed the mayor and assured him of their support in the city council. 

Talking to journalists, Waseem Akhtar said it was essential to forget the past and go ahead for the progress and betterment of Karachi.

The mayor said he had a historic working relationship with the JUI-F chief.

Qari Usman, the JUI-F naib amir, said the party members in the city council would support the mayor and cooperate for in carrying out development work. He hoped the development work would also be started in areas where JUI-F voters were in majority. 

Prayers were also offered for the health of the JUI-F chief and for all those who died in the PIA plane crash.  During the visit, the mayor was accompanied by Aslam Afridi, parliamentary leader in the city council, and Moeed Anwer, chairman of the District Municipal Corporation East.
