PanamaLeaks probe
LAHORE: The Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Sirajul Haq on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must be stopped from using his official powers after the constitution of a judicial commission to probe PanamaLeaks scandal.
Talking to the media after hearing of Panama Papers case in the SC, the JI chief said his party wanted across the board accountability of each and every person who had been involved in corruption. He said the prime minister and other rulers must be made accountable first as they are holding government offices. He said Panamgate had brought a bad name to the government. He said it would be appropriate if the prime minister did not use his official powers after constitution of a commission in the best interest of fairness and impartially.
“This will not only satisfy the masses but ensure impartiality too,” he said. He reiterated his demand for across-the-board accountability, saying that not only those named in the Panama Papers be made accountable but those who had got their loans written off must also be taken to task.
