MANSEHRA: The councillors belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have moved Abbottabad Circuit Bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against district nazim to demand fair and equal distribution of development funds.
“We have moved the PHC seeking the equal distribution of development funds among treasury and opposition benches as well as in female councillors elected on reserved seats,” Ambreen Swati, the district councillor of the PTI, told reporters on Tuesday.
The judge has fixed December 13 for hearing the case and summoned district nazim and other stakeholders to appear in the court. “We have met with district nazim and his team to evolve such a strategy that both treasury and opposition councillors are given equal funds but it couldn’t happen and we moved the court seeking distribution of funds under the Local Government Act 2013,” said Swati.
She said the petition was moved in court on behalf of all opposition members of her party through opposition leader in district council Shahid Rafique. The PTI, the only opposition party in district council, had protested and staged a walkout against what they alleged unfair and unequal distribution of funds last month.
