The city’s fire brigade department on Tuesday completed its probe into the Regent Plaza fire and has declared the blaze ‘accidental’ in nature, Geo News reported.
A report quoted Chief Fire Officer Tehseen Ahmed as having ruled out any possibility of sabotage in the fire that claimed 12 lives, including doctors.
Ahmed was reported to have said that while the cause of the fire was not completely clear, notions of foul play behind the tragedy were unfounded.
The chief fire officer further said that it seemed highly likely that the blaze originated in the hotel’s kitchen.
A total of 12 persons, including four District Health Officers (DHOs) of Sindh and Balochistan, were killed and over 100 others, including Chinese nationals and national cricketers were injured in the blaze that broke out late on Sunday night.
