With reports of leakage of papers, a mock exercise for Class 5 and 8 to train students and teachers for annual examination 2017 started under the supervision of Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) on Monday.
There were reports about leakage of assessment tests from various examination centres in the provincial metropolis. The mock papers of Mathematics for Class 5 and English for Class 8 were held on the first day.
A number of heads of schools told The News, on the condition of anonymity, that they were given the papers by hand and were asked to get the same photocopied keeping in view strength of students in their respective schools.
They added this led to the leakage of the question papers. “Also the schools had to bear the expenses of photocopying the papers”, the heads said and added the onus was on the PEC to ensure that the papers were not leaked.
PEC Chief Executive Officer Dr Nasir Iqbal Malik while explaining that there was nothing to worry about the leakage of papers as this was a mock exercise and an exam for learning and not an exam of learning.
