Govt to award Rs1m on information about spurious drug manufacturing units

An illegal herbal pharmaceutical factory was sealed and raw material and manufactured medicines were confiscated in the Kattarband area near Thokar Niaz Baig on Saturday.
The factory was raided by Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health and Chief Minister’s Task Force on Spurious Drugs Chairman Kh Imran Nazir along with a squad of drug inspectors.
According to a handout issued here, the factory was producing food supplement for children (C-Mom Complan), Pasmodin syrup, Gascard syrup and other herbal products illegally as it was not registered. Moreover, cleanliness condition in the factory was unsatisfactory. An employee of the factory, Abdullah, who has been arrested on the spot informed that the factory owner was a resident of Peshawar and he was away.
Health Minister Kh Imran Nazir told the media said that the government was encouraging the standard pharmaceutical companies manufacturing quality medicines. He said that illegal manufacturing of medicines and substandard and spurious drugs would not be allowed to be manufactured or sold in the market. He announced that the government would give a cash award of Rs 1 million for giving information regarding the illegal and spurious drugs manufacturing units while the name of the informer would be kept confidential. Kh Imran Nazir appreciated the drug inspectors on successful raid.
