No transparent polls without empowering ECP: Baloch

BAHAWALPUR: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaqat Baloch has said that free, fair and transparent elections are not possible without empowering the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said this while talking to journalists here on Friday. Liaqat Baloch said that it was the constitutional responsibility of the government to hold census and the government should take decision for holding the census immediately. Liaqat Baloch welcomed the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said that it should be beneficial equally for every federating unit, adding that it was the responsibility of the PM to create consensus on it to make the CPEC more beneficial. He said that the time had come to take serious steps to eradicate corruption from the society. Liaqat Baloch demanded the government give due rights to the people of Cholistan.
3 DEAD IN ACCIDENTS: Three people were killed and as many injured in road accidents on the KLP National Highway on Friday.
A truck driver and his helper died when their vehicle rammed into a trailer coming from opposite direction near Yousafabad, Rahimyar Khan. In another incident, an oil tanker hit a motorbike near Janpur. As a result, motorcyclist Abdullah died on the spot while another biker sustained injuries.
